“HILL DAY” May 29, 2018
The Society for Prevention Research (SPR) and the National Prevention Science Coalition (NPSC) co-sponsored a “Hill Day” which was held May 29, 2018 in Washington, DC, in conjunction with the SPR Annual Meeting, May 29 – June 1, 2018.
SPR Senior and Early Career scientists members participated in both group meetings with the Senate Appropriations Committee and the Senate HELP (Health, Education, and Labor and Pension Committee), as well as, individually scheduled meetings with Senate senior staff. The group and individual meetings were scheduled to discuss key messages about prevention research (i.e., prevention works, is cost-beneficial, and more funding for prevention science is needed). The 8 teams with two members each, a senior career and an early career scientist, visited Senators on the above committees representing theirs states. The Hill Day information packets included the following.
