The Society for Prevention Research is dedicated to advancing scientific investigation on the etiology and prevention of social, physical and mental health, and academic problems and on the translation of that information to promote health and well-being. We are equally committed to the dissemination of prevention science worldwide, including the wide scale dissemination of published research to scientists, practitioners, advocates, administrators, and policy makers across the globe. Springer, the publisher of Prevention Science since its founding in 2000, shares the same principles around making research accessible to a worldwide audience. Despite its strong belief and track-record (see https://www.springernature.com/gp/advancing-discovery/opening-up-research), Springer has to comply with the rules and regulations in China (and other countries) in order to continue to make accessible to researchers in China over 99.9% of its content via their own platform and 100% of all its content via other means. Springer also needs to protect the responsibility we all have to researchers around the world that rely on Springer to provide a publishing mechanism to scientists around the globe. We are pleased that, at this time, 100% of the material published in Prevention Science is made in available to researchers in China as well as many other countries around the world. Although the SPR’s Board will continue to monitor censorship around the globe, we are supportive of Springer and their commitment to making research accessible to all.
