Program Description

The Society for Prevention Research (SPR) is seeking applicants for a one-year program designed to support aspiring prevention scientists, with a focus on increasing representation of underrepresented populations in prevention science research.

Participants will be introduced to the field of prevention science and pathways to careers in the discipline through virtual workshops and SPR 2026 Annual Conference participation.

Eligibility

Applicants must have completed at least two years of post-secondary education and meet the definition of an underrepresented minority, as defined by NIH. Please refer to the application form for additional details.

An SPR member must sponsor the student’s application. Both the student and sponsoring member may be eligible to receive financial support to attend the SPR 2026 Annual Conference.

This is a rigorous and competitive one-year program. Selected scholars are expected to remain actively engaged throughout the full program and must be available to attend the SPR 2026 Annual Conference.
